Ruapotaka Mini Olympics
Last week on Friday we had our first ever Mini Olympics. We had a opening ceremony by sinning the Olympic Anthem and we also sang the National Anthem New Zealand for the closing of the Olympic Anthem.
Teachers did all kinds of Olympic sports. My favorite was football with Mr Reid. We were competing as Ethiopia.

Mahy Drysdale wins gold in photo finish
Mahy Drysdale has won the men's single sculls at the Rio Olympics.
The kiwis collected our second gold medal for photo finish. Drysdale went into the final as the defending Olympic champion. However Crotian led the field by a boat length after 1000m. The 1500m mark Drysdale was in front and he appears to have the race under control.

Shot put super star Valarie Adams has won a silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Michelle Carter from USA won the final with a 20.63m throw which was too good for Adams. Anita Morton from Hungary finished third. Carter throw away the competition with her final throw. Adams throw was further than her throw in London 2012. In Rio the throws were shorter.

Butterfly Stroke
On Monday we had to write a realistic fiction. We had to think of a Olympic event that we want to do at the Olympic games in Rio. People chose different Olympic games. I chose butterfly stroke. My training started at 5:00am and finished at 5:00pm. My coach name is Laura. I had to practice using both arms and do butterfly kicks. I had to try my best so I can challenge myself.
